# How to retain equipment when you die on your v-Rising server

Before you begin, make sure to fully stop your server. You should first activate the default mode on your server.

1. Navigate to the File Manager.
2. Go to the path shown in the following image (container/VRisingServer_Data/StreamingAssets/Settings/ServerHostSettings.json) and locate GameSettingsPreset.

Enter **custom** and save the changes.

3. Once the default game mode is activated, we will now change the configuration.

4. Go to the path shown in the following image (container/VRisingServer_Data/StreamingAssets/Settings/ServerHostSettings.json).

Look for the line **BloodBoundEquipment** and modify it. Setting it to **false** disables this function; setting it to **true** activates it.

Once done, simply restart your server and verify that the changes have been applied.
