# How To Transfer A Valheim World Save

Want to move your Valheim world to another computer or server? Whether you're upgrading to dedicated hosting or just sharing progress with a friend, transferring a Valheim world is easier than it sounds. All your progress: builds, terrain changes, and world data, is saved in a small set of files you can copy and paste.

In this guide, we'll show you how to transfer Valheim world to dedicated server. This is very easy since Valheim saves are usually stored in their default location on your computer files. Even when a new world is created, you will still find the files in the exact location.

## Finding Your Existing Valheim World Save On Your Computer

To find an existing Valheim world on your computer:

* You will need to find the world file location

* On your keyboard, use `Windows + R` and open the following directory: `%AppData%\..\LocalLow\IronGate\Valheim\worlds_local`

* Inside the `world_local` folder, select all the files, and compress them.

* Now, you have a compressed file of the world files.

## Downloading A Valheim Cloud Save From Xbox or Steam

To download a Valheim world cloud save to your computer:

* Open Valheim

* In the **Select Character** screen, click on **Manager Saves**

* Navigate to the **Worlds** tab

* Choose the desired world, and click on the **Move to local** button

* It will now be moved to your local files, which are: `%AppData%\..\LocalLow\IronGate\Valheim\worlds_local`

* Open the `worlds_local` folder, which will contain the world files.

* Compress all the files to have a zip file of the world files.
