# How to Use MCASelector


## What is MCASelector?

MCASelector is a third-party utility for Minecraft that lets you view, select, and modify region files (the .mca files) of your Minecraft world. It’s commonly used by server developers to:

* **Visualize Chunks:** See an overview of your world’s chunks.
    
* **Delete or Prune Areas:** Remove unwanted or corrupted chunks.
    
* **Optimize Performance:** Clean up your world data to reduce lag or fix issues.

## How to Install MCASelector

To install MCASelector:

* Install [MCA selector](https://github.com/Querz/mcaselector)
    
* Scroll down a bit till you find the download MCA selector link

* Once the program is installed, right click it and click on "Run as Administrator" and complete the installation steps

## Using MCASelector To Manage Your World

Before trimming or deleting any chunks, create a backup for your Minecraft server to prevent any loss.

### Trimming Chunks

* Click on the **File** tab and select **Open World,** and choose the desired world file you want

* Choose the chunks you want to delete by holding left click and selecting the chunks

* Now click on the **Select** tab, and click on **Delete selected chunks** to delete chunks

### Deleting Large Parts Of Your World

* Choose the chunks you want to keep by holding left click and selecting the chunks

* Now click on the **Select** tab, and click on **Invert**

* Now click on the **Select** tab, and click on **Delete selected chunks** to delete chunks

* This is an example after deleting all the chunk blocks we've chosen

This will delete all the chunks marked in orange, and the rest will stay as they are. Now you can log into your server and check the applied changes to ensure nothing goes wrong.
