How To Add Mods To A DayZ Server
Modding your DayZ server opens up a whole new layer of gameplay: custom maps, weapons, quality-of-life tweaks, or even complete overhauls.
Players often expect mods as part of the DayZ experience, so knowing how to set them up is almost essential if you’re running your own server.
The process itself isn’t complicated once you understand the flow: grabbing mods through the Steam Workshop, uploading them to your server, and making sure your configuration files actually load them in the right order. Here's how.
How To Install DayZ Mods On A Server
- Go to the Apollo Panel, and turn off your server.
- Open the DayZ Steam Workshop.
- Look for a mod that you want to install on the server. For this guide, we will be installing the VPPAdminTools mod.
- Subscribe to the mod and its dependencies, if any.
- Launch DayZ, and go to the Mods Tab.
- Right-click on one of the installed mods and select "Open Folder".
- In the newly opened window, upload the mod folder and its dependencies, if any, to the root directory on your server with the Apollo Panel. Please take note of the names of the folder/s as well, as we will need them for later.
Since the VPPAdminTools mod requires the CF Mod, we will also upload its mod folder to the server.
- Open each mod folder that you want to install on the server, and inside their respective "keys" folders, upload all the .bikey files to the "keys" folder on the server.
- Once the mod folder/s have been uploaded, go to the Startup Tab and enter the folder names from the earlier step in the "Mods" setting. If you are listing more than one mod, make sure you separate each mod with a semicolon.
- Start the server, and all of the installed mods should now be loaded on the server.
How To Install DayZ Mods On Your Computer
- Open the DayZ Steam Workshop.
- Look for a mod that you want to install on your computer. For this guide, we will be installing the VPPAdminTools mod.
- Subscribe to the mod and its dependencies, if any.
- Launch DayZ, and go to the Mods Tab.
- If the mod you want to use is under the "Available mods" section, load it by either clicking on the checkbox next to the mod or the "Load all" button. If the mod has dependencies, the launcher will also prompt you to load them or not.
- Launch DayZ, and you will have successfully installed and loaded DayZ mods on your computer.
