How To Add Mods To Project Zomboid Server

Start your own Project Zomboid server and customize the apocalypse your way—adding mods is the easiest way to reshape survival. Whether you want more realistic weapons, expanded crafting options, or full gameplay overhauls, mods let you transform the world into whatever challenge (or chaos) you’re craving.

Project Zomboid uses the Steam Workshop for mod integration, so once your server is set up, syncing those mods just takes a few simple steps.

Step 1: Find The Mods You Want To Add To Your Project Zomboid Server On The Steam Workshop

  1. Head to the Project Zomboid Steam Workshop.

  1. Browse and select the mods you wish to install.

  1. Ensure that the mods that you want to install are available for the build of the game that you're currently using. For this guide, we are using Build 42. You can determine if a mod is compatible with the build you are using by checking if it has the build tag or is mentioned in the mod's description.

Step 2: Copy The IDs For The Mods You Want To Add

Each mod will have its Workshop ID and Mod ID listed in its description, usually at the very end of the description. You will need both to add mods to your server correctly. For this guide, we will be installing BitBraven's Common Sense Mod and Scavenger's Bushcraft Gear - Rare Weapons Mod.

Step 3: Add The Workshop Mod IDs Into Your Project Zomboid Server's Config

  1. In the Apollo Panel, go to the Properties Tab.

  1. Paste the Workshop IDs of the mods you want to install under the "WorkshopItems" setting. If you are installing more than one mod, make sure you separate each Workshop ID with a semicolon ";".

  1. Next, paste the Mod IDs of the mods you want to install under the "Mods" settings. Also, separate the IDs with a semicolon if you are going to install more than one mod.

  1. Restart the server, and when you try joining the server without the mods installed, the server will now require you to install the mods on your computer.
