How To Ban Someone From Valheim Server
Keeping your Valheim server running smoothly sometimes means making tough calls—like banning a player who's causing trouble. If someone's griefing, cheating, or just not respecting your rules, you don’t have to put up with it. Valheim gives you full control, and banning someone is quick once you know how. You’ll just need their SteamID, a couple commands, and you’re set.
In this guide, we'll show you how to ban someone from Valheim server by using the Steam ID and the in-game console.
Banning Players From Your Valheim Server
To ban a player on your Valheim server:
- Join the game
- Open your console by pressing F5
- Type
ban <SteamID>
- For example, to ban the Steam ID (9487389789478421), type the following command
ban 9487389789478421
and hit enter. You find a player's Steam ID here
- You can also use the server files to ban a player
- Open your Apollo panel
- Head over to the Files tab, and open the following directory
/home/container/.config/unity3d/IronGate/Valheim
- Open the bannedlist.txt folder
- In a new line, type the user's Steam ID
- Click on Save, and restart your server
Unbanning Banned Users From Your Valheim Server
To unban players on your Valheim server:
- Open the console using F5
- Type
unban <SteamID>
- For example, to unban the Steam ID (9487389789478421) type,
unban 9487389789478421
and press enter
Kicking A Player From Your Valheim Server
To kick a player from your Valheim server:
- Open the console using F5
- Type
kick <SteamID>
- For example, to kick the Steam ID (9487389789478421) type,
kick 9487389789478421
and press enter
