How to Change Level Type in Minecraft Server

In Minecraft, level types determine the generator settings. Generator settings are how your world is generated and what terrain features you'll encounter.

The most common world types include:

Default (Normal): Standard world with hills, valleys, water, etc, and automatically generated biomes.

Superflat: An entire overworld consists of just one biome, and a flat world ideal for creative building.

Large Biomes: Similar to the default but with bigger biomes.

Amplified: An extreme terrain with dramatic hills and valleys.

Custom: Create a completely custom world using your own preconfigured generator settings.

This guide will show you how to change the level type in the generator settings through the server settings properties file from a standard world to a custom world.

Warning: Do not change the level type for a server that has already been generated. This can cause poor terrain generation and even corruption while creating a new, completely custom world or a newly generated world.

Changing the Level Type

Note: After changing your map, you'll need to delete the old world map or rename it, since changing the server's level type while using an existing world might cause some corruption problems

To change the generator settings for the level type on your Minecraft server:

Open your Apollo Panel

Open your File Manager and navigate to your server.properties folder

Locate the line level-type=minecraft\:normal and choose the desired map you'd like generated

Default (Normal): level-type=minecraft\:normal

Superflat: level-type=minecraft\:flat

Large Biomes: level-type=minecraft\:large_biomes

Amplified: level-type=minecraft\:amplified
