How To Change Simulation Distance In Minecraft Bedrock

Changing the simulation distance setting in Minecraft Bedrock Edition allows you to control how far out the game processes things like redstone, entity distance, and crop growth. The simulation distance may not work if it is too high compared to the render distance.

The simulation distance determines how far from the player the world actively runs, which controls mob spawning, lightning strikes, and despawn distances. It also helps restrict tick update distance, balancing server load by limiting activity beyond a certain distance from the player position. Here’s how to change simulation distance in Minecraft Bedrock:

For A Multiplayer Minecraft Bedrock Server or Realm

To change the simulation distance on a Minecraft Bedrock Edition server:

Open your Apollo Panel

Open the "Files" tab

Head over to the "server.properties" folder

Find the line simulation-distance if you cannot find it, simply add the line simulation-distance=10

You can adjust the value from 4 to 12, since the maximum distance is 12.

Save the changes and start your Minecraft server. You can check out this guide for Java Edition

For Singleplayer (Windows 10, iOS, Android, Console)

To change the simulation distance on single player for Minecraft Bedrock:

Open Minecraft Bedrock Edition.

Click “Play” on the main menu.

Choose the desired world and click "Edit"

Open the "Advanced" tab

Look for “Simulation Distance”.

Adjust it to your desired distance (e.g., 4 to 12 chunks).

Return to your world—your changes will apply immediately.
