How to Create a Timings Report on a Minecraft Server

---

What is a Timings Report?

A timings report is a powerful diagnostic tool specifically designed for Paper servers. It provides an in-depth analysis of server performance by tracking various server activities and processes over time. This detailed breakdown includes data on plugin performance, tick rates, and other critical metrics that influence the server's overall efficiency.

Timing reports from Spigot (and other Spigot forks) are useful for identifying what is happening on your Minecraft server. By knowing this information, you can detect where lag spikes are coming from and information about all the entities on your Minecraft server. Our support team may ask you to perform a timings report on your server if you are experiencing lag on your Minecraft server.

How to Create a Timings Report (For Paper/Spigot Servers)

To create a timings report on your Minecraft server:

In the server console, type timings on. This will turn on timings and it will start logging all activity from entities, plugins and players.

Continue using the server as normal. We need to get the most accurate results depending on the environment. Please keep everything the same as it was when you were experiencing lag on the server. Do this for 5-10 minutes. This will provide the most detail, although waiting longer usually translates to more detailed reports.

In the server console, type timings paste. This will turn off the timings report and will generate a link which you can access to view the server report. Please send this link to the ticket if our support team asks you to do it!.
