How to Download a Minecraft World

Ever wanted to take your Minecraft world offline, back it up, or share it with your friends? Downloading your Minecraft world might sound a bit technical, but it's actually a straightforward process once you know the steps.

In this guide, we'll show you how to download a Minecraft world in both Java and Bedrock editions without changing your world. If you were in a certain game mode, such as creative mode, your world will be saved as it was before being downloaded.

Downloading A World From a Website (Java Edition)



One way you can download worlds for your Minecraft server is online. We recommend using Curseforge for this step.

To download a Curseforge world onto a Java edition Minecraft server:

Download the desired Minecraft world zip file to your computer's desktop

Unzip your zip file by right clicking the zip file and click on Extract Here


Now upload the extract map folder into your Files tab


After finally uploading, delete the world folder and rename your uploaded file to world

You can now restart your server and have fun with your new world

Downloading a World From a Website On Bedrock Edition



To download and upload a world onto your Bedrock Edition server from a website:

Install the desired world

Open your game and click on the upload Minecraft icon


Now upload the installed Minecraft world by double clicking the .MCWORLD file



You can now load your Minecraft world in Bedrock Edition with no problems

Downloading A World From Your Minecraft Server (Java Edition)



To download a world from your Minecraft server:

Log into your Apollo Panel and stop your server

Navigate to the Files tab


Locate the world folder and right click it, then click on Archive and install it as the desired file format


Once chosen, right click the compressed folder made and click on Download, and save it where you want



You can now change your world name and save it in RAR format in your downloads folder or any safe place to backup anytime.

Adding a Minecraft World to a Single Player Game (Java Edition)



To add the downloaded world from your Minecraft server to a single player world:

Click on Windows + R and type %appdata% and press enter


Access your .minecraft folder, then open the saves folder

Here's an example of the File Explorer search bar



Drag and drop the downloaded Minecraft world file to your saves folder

Right click the world compressed file and click Extract Here



Now the world downloaded successfully. You can now play Minecraft and see your new world uploaded in the Singleplayer tab.

Downloading A World From Your Minecraft Server (Bedrock Edition)



To download a MInecraft world from a Bedrock edition server:

Open your Apollo Panel and stop your server

Navigate to the Files tab


Locate the worlds folder and right click it, then click on Archive and install it as the desired file format


Once chosen, right click the compressed folder made and click on Download, and save it where you want
