How To Make A Minecraft Bedwars Server

What Is Bedwars?

Bedwars is a strategy, community, and fun game mode on both Java and Bedrock Edition. The whole game is about a team-based Minecraft minigame in which the goal is simple: protect your bed and destroy other players' beds. Each team starts on its own island with a bed—so long as it’s intact, players can respawn after dying. Once a bed is broken, that entire team is on its final kill. From sudden death to quests and ranks, every match tests your skill. Whether it's your first game or you're the last team standing.

Players gather resources from generators, use them to buy blocks or gear, golden apples, and special items in the quick buy store to bridge across floating islands to the enemy teams to break other enemies' beds. They also defend themselves with miner fatigue traps and store loot in the team chests. It’s one of the most popular Minecraft PvP modes for a reason—it’s simple to learn, hard to master, and always intense.

This guide will show you how to make a Minecraft Bedwars server and even easily set it up so that you can have fun with each member of your party!

Installing ScreamingBedwars

To install ScreamingBedwars on your Minecraft server:

Install ScreamingBedwars

Once installed, open your Apollo Panel

Navigate to the "Files" tab

Locate the "Plugins" folder

Drag and drop or upload the installed plugins

Once uploaded, you can start your server with the new Bed Wars experience.

Install a Bed Wars Map

Find the desired Bed Wars map here

Upload the map into your "Files" tab

Once uploaded, right-click the map and click on "Extract"

Once extracted, rename the extracted folder to "world"

You can now start your server with the new Bed Wars map

Creating the Arena

Make sure you have operator permissions to use the following commands.

Type `/bw admin <ArenaName> add. This is an example of creating an arena with the name "SparkedHost"

Now, fly to the bottom corner of the map, and make sure you are beneath every block and type /bw admin <ArenaName> pos1

Now, fly above the arena to the top corner of the arena and make sure you are above every block and type /bw admin <ArenaName> pos2

Adding Teams

You have to first create teams before setting the spawn points by typing /bw admin <ArenaName> team add <TeamName> <Color> <AmountOfPlayers>. This is an example of creating a yellow team named "Test" with just one player.

Create other teams with other names/colors as desired

Setting Team Spawn

Head over to the desired spot you want to set the team spawn point for, and type /bw admin <ArenaName> team spawn <TeamName>

Now, set the other team's spawns as desired

Setting Bed Location

To set the Bed spawn locations, type /bw admin <ArenaName> team bed <TeamName>

Now, you can set other team bed spawns as desired.

Setting the Resource Generators

Install ScreamingBedwars Addons

Once installed and added to your "plugins" folder

Head over to the generator you'd like to use, and type /bw admin <ArenaName> spawner add <Ingot>

If you'd like to add a hologram above the generator, add "True" in the command /bw admin <ArenaName> spawner add <Ingot> true

Now, add the diamond generators, emerald generators, and all the desired generators to your spawn islands and middle islands.

Adding the Store

Stand where you want your team upgrades NPC or the shop NPC to be, and type /bw admin <ArenaName> store add <ShopName>

Add the other shops for the other team's island

Setting the Spawn Lobby

Head over to the spot where you want players to stay until the game starts, and type /bw admin <ArenaName> lobby

Setting the Spectator Spawn

Stand where you want spectators to spawn, and type /bw admin <ArenaName> spec

This will set the spectator's spawn point. Once they die, they will spawn in the desired spot to watch the game.

Saving the Map

Once this is all done, type /bw admin <ArenaName> save to save your map and get to playing.

Head over to your Bed Wars lobby, place a sign, type [BedWars], click "Enter", and type the arena name, as shown in the example below

Now, to set your spawn location to the lobby, stand wherever you want in the lobby, and type /bw mainlobby enable and then /bw reload

Adding Holograms

You can also create holograms for your lobby

To add a leaderboard, type /bw addholo leaderboard

To add a stats hologram, type /bw addholo stats

Once you've finished, click on the sign to join your game with your friends.
