All Hytale Server Commands Explained

Hytale commands give you control over almost everything on your game server, from changing the world's time and weather to managing your whitelist, teleporting players, and building at scale in creative mode.

This is a complete list of Hytale server commands, explained in plain language. It covers console commands, admin commands, builder commands, player commands, and general commands. You'll also learn how the OP permission group works, how to give server operators full access, and how to run commands in-game or from the console on your own server.

How To Run Hytale Commands (Console vs. In-Game)

You can run Hytale server commands in two places: the server console in your control panel, or the chat inside the game. Both use the same commands. The console always has full access, while in-game you need operator permissions for most commands.

Running Commands From the Server Console

  • In the Console tab, type the command and press Enter.

Running Commands In Game

  • Join your server and press Enter to open the chat.

  • Type `/` followed by the command, then press Enter. For example, `/time set day` changes the world's time to day.

  • Many commands require OP. To grant OP, run `/op add <player>` in the console.

How To Find the Complete List of Available Commands

  • Type `/help` to see the full list of available commands on your server.

  • Type `/help <command>` to see how a specific command works and what it needs.

Hytale Server Authentication

What Server Authentication Does

Server authentication links your Hytale server to your Hytale account and the game's online services. If your server isn't authenticated, players may not be able to connect.

How To Authenticate Your Hytale Server

  1. Access the Apollo Panel.

  1. In the Console tab, type `auth login device` and press Enter.

  1. The console prints a link and a device code.

  1. Open the link, enter the code, and sign in with your Hytale account.

  1. Run `/auth status` to confirm the server is authenticated.

Command

What It Does

/auth login device

Starts the device login. Best for hosted servers.

/auth login browser

Starts a browser login. Only works if the server has a graphical environment.

/auth status

Shows whether the server is authenticated.

/auth logout

Logs the server out and ends the session.

OP Permission Group and Operator Permissions

The OP permission group is the top permission level on your server. Server operators get full access to the admin, world, and builder commands. Everyone else only gets the basic player commands.

Command

What It Does

/op add <player>

Gives a player operator permissions. Use this from the console.

/op remove <player>

/perm

Frequently Asked Questions

Why isn't my command working?

  • You don't have permission. Run `/op add <your name>` in the console.

  • The syntax is wrong. Run `/help <command>` to see the exact format.

  • The player isn't online. Commands that target a player need them to be on the server.

  • A typo. Type the command exactly as shown.

Can I use commands on a Hytale server I don't own?

Only the ones the server owner allows. Basic commands like `/help`, `/spawn`, `/ping`, and `/emote` are usually open to everyone.

Admin, world, and builder commands need operator permissions, so the owner has to make you an operator first.

Do I need to be an operator to use Hytale server commands?

General and player commands are mostly open to everyone, but admin, world, and builder commands need operator permissions or the right permission from `/perm`.
