First steps: Sons of the Forest


Accessing your server configuration


  1. Access your control panel and stop your server.
  2. Go to /home/container/serverconfig/dedicatedserver.cfg



Change your server configuration


Once you have access to your server configuration, you can make the necessary changes. The table below lists all available server configurations.

DESCRIPTION

Automatic Steam Updates

Enable/Disable your server to automatically update along with Sons of the Forest Steam updates.

Server Name

Sets the name of the server. This is displayed in the list of game servers.

Max Players

Set the maximum number of players. It cannot exceed the maximum of your plan.

Server Password

Set a password for the server used when connecting. Leave this field empty if you want your server to be public.

Steam Beta

Sets the server to use a Beta version of Steam.

Save Slot

Sets the save slot to be used by the server, this value can be an integer greater than or equal to 1.

Save Interval (seconds)

Sets the frequency at which the server will automatically save to the assigned save slot.

Save Mode

You have two options: Continue: Creates a new save in SaveSlot if the currently assigned save slot does not exist, or will load the current save. New: Will create a new game and overwrite any previously saved game in the SaveSlot. If a server is stopped and restarted, the previous save will be overwritten while this is set to new.

Game Mode

Sets the server difficulty when creating a new save, this will not be used if an existing save file is loaded. The options are: Normal, Hard, Hard Survival, Peaceful, Custom

Idle Day Cycle Speed

Determines the speed at which time passes compared to the normal game, when the server is idle (no players connected).

Logs

Determines whether logs will be saved for the server, which can be found in the /logs folder in your server's FTP.

Admins

Use Steam64IDs to add players as administrators, giving them permission to ban and ban players from the server. Multiple IDs can be set here by separating them with commas (,).
