How To Ban Someone From Terraria Server

Banning someone from your Terraria server helps keep the gameplay fair and enjoyable for everyone. Whether you're dealing with griefers, hackers, or just enforcing server rules, Terraria gives you a few simple ways to issue bans—either by IP, user ID, or directly through server tools like TShock.


In this guide, we'll show you how to ban someone from Terraria server so you can keep your server safe, and also know how to ban or unban players from your server at time.


Banning A Player From Your Terraria Server (Vanilla)



  • In your console, type the following command ban <playername>



Please note that the player must be online during this process.


Banning A Player Using TShock


To permanently ban a player from your server:


  • In your in-game chat, type /ban add <name> <reason> as shown in the example below



To temporarily ban a player from your server:


  • In your in-game chat, type /ban addtemp <playername> <time> <reason>



You can use this time as a reference for future use.


  • s – seconds (30s)


  • m – minutes (10m)


  • h – hours (2h)


  • d – days (1d)


IP Banning A Player


To IP ban a player from your server:


  • In your in-game chat type, /ban addip <IP Address>


Unbanning A Player From Your Terraria Server (Vanilla)


  • Open your Apollo Panel here


  • Head over to the Files tab


  • Find the banlist.txt file



  • Delete the banned player's IP address, and click on Save Content


Unbanning A Player Using TShock


To unban players on your TShock server:


  • In your in-game chat, type /ban del <username>



Unbanning A Player's IP


To unban a player's IP address on your Tshock server:


  • In your in-game chat, type /ban delip <IP Address>
