How To Save A Terraria Server

Saving your Terraria server is essential for protecting player progress and keeping your world intact. Without regular saves, unexpected crashes or interruptions can lead to lost data and frustrated players. Thankfully, Terraria servers include built-in save functions that help ensure everything stays in place as you build, explore, and fight through the world.


In this guide, we'll show you how to save a Terraria server and install the desired save on your server. You would simply need to use your console to download the world save.


Downloading A Terraria Server Save


To download a Terraria save, follow the steps below:



  • Head over to the Files tab


  • Locate the following directory: /home/container/saves/Worlds


  • You find the .wld file, which is the world file


  • Right-click and click Download



  • The .bak files are the old backups of your world


Uploading A Terraria Server Save


  • On your computer, you can head to /Documents/My Games/Terraria/Worlds and find worlds on your local machine.


  • Find the .wld file and take note of the name


  • In your console panel, stop the server, and head over to the saves/Worldsdirectory


  • Upload the .wdl folder to saves/Worlds


  • Once uploaded, navigate to the Startup tab and make sure to update the World Name to match what you uploaded, then restart or start your server.
