How to Install & use WinSCP

What exactly is WinSCP? Well, WinSCP is an SFTP client which allows you to directly and securely connect to your server/service files. It drastically increases upload time and wait time as you are not uploading everything through the web. Another advantage to WinSCP is that you are able to directly upload folders to the server. No need to zip the folders and then extract them via the file manager.

Note: WinSCP can only run on Windows! See more about compatibility on the WinSCP website.
There is a video version of this guide available. Click here to view the video.

Let’s Set Up WinSCP!

How to Install WinSCP

Head over to the official WinSCP website and download the latest version available. Click on the green “Download Now” button. The download should start automatically.

Open the file and follow the setup process until it has finished installing.

How to Use WinSCP

On the Apollo Panel, Click “Settings” on the left-hand side of the navigation bar.

Under the “SFTP Details” Box, click on the “WinSCP” button.

A popup will open. These details are important as you will need these to connect to the server via SFTP. To quickly connect to the server, Click “Launch WinSCP” on the bottom right-hand corner of the popup.

A Warning box will pop up on WinSCP because the client has not seen nor connected to the server before. Rest assured, the connection is encrypted and safe. It will ask you if you would like to continue. Click “Yes”.

WinSCP Will ask you for a password. The password is the same password that is used on the Apollo Panel. It is NOT the password for the billing panel!

Once the password has been entered, you will be connected to the server via SFTP. You are now able to upload folders directly to the server!
